Last Thursday May 14, was held a ceremony in which three consortiums that applied for the construction of Line 2 of Panama Subway, revealed their technical proposals and the ratings assigned to each of them. The winner was the Line 2 Consortium, formed by the Brazilian company Odebrecht and Spanish company FCC Construction, who will be responsible for the design and construction of the second line of the Panama Subway.

* The Line 2 Consortium, formed by the Brazilian company Odebrecht and Spanish FCC Construction, won the bid to design and build the second line of the Panama Subway.

* In second place, was the Panametro consortium, formed by China Harbour Engineering Company, China Railway First Group and the Spanish Corsán-Corviam and third place was occupied by the consortium UTE Panama II, formed by Spanish Dragados, Mexico’s ICA and Peru’s Grana y Montero.

* It is expected that Metro de Panama, S.A. give the order to proceed in two months and since then, the consortium will have four years to complete the work.

Was already announced the company responsible for the design and construction of the second Metro line: Is the Line 2 Consortium, formed by the Brazilian company Odebrecht and the Spanish company FCC Construction. The Line 2 Consortium, won a total score of 855.98 points, with a bid of U.S. $ 1.857 million and the highest score on the technical side (396 points from a maximum of 510).

According to information published by Prensa.com website, last thursday, May 14, was celebrated an act in which the prices offered by the three consortiums that applied and the qualifications of its technical proposals were revealed. The winning consortium was responsible for the execution of Line 1 of the metro.

In second place, was the Panametro consortium, formed by China Harbour Engineering Company, China Railway First Group and the Spanish Corsán-Corviam, with a total score 770.33. Its financial proposal was the lowest of the three (U.S. $ 1.667 million) but lost ground in the technical part, where they obtained a score of 311 points.

The third place went to Panama II UTE consortium formed by the Spanish Dragados, Mexico’s ICA and Grana y Montero Peru, with a bid of U.S. $ 2.076 million and a score of 317 points in the technical part. His total score was 736.98.
The three economic proposals met the requirement risks, still within the range of 20% compared to the official estimated price, which was U.S.$ 1.818 million.

The procedure, once chosen the winning company, is that companies have a period of three business days to submit comments to the assessment report. Once this process, the contract, must be approved by the Comptroller General of the Republic to be awarded.

It is important to point out that Line 2 will run from San Miguelito, where it will connect with Line 1 and 24 de Diciembre. It will have 21 kilometers and 16 stations, with a completely high ride on the Domingo Diaz Avenue. The total duration of the work shall be four years.
