Roads of Panama – Best in class of Centralamerica

Panama has established itself as the country with the best roads in the region and has also managed to take second place in the ranking of countries with the best road infrastructure in Latin America. Moreover, Costa Rica again won the title of the country with the worst roads in Central America.

According to information published by Summa Magazine website, the quality of the roads are a seal of approval for the development of a country. However, in Central and Latin America, there are very particular phenomena, as the road infrastructure conditions are varied and are not necessarily related to the wealth or poverty of the country.

Panama roads are in very good condition, both in the city and in the countryside. This allowed that according to the latest Global Competitiveness Report of the World Economic Forum, Panama was rated as the second country with the best roads in Latin America. The number one spot was occupied by Chile.

Moreover, Costa Rica has a particular case, who appears as the third most competitive country in Latin America but occupies the last place of road infrastructure in Latin America. The road policies obtained a grade of 2.2 to 7 on the quality factor, gaining for the third consecutive year the title of the country with the worst roads in Central America.

It is important to notice that countries like El Salvador, who are in the last places of competitiveness, is noted for the quality of its roads in the region, as Salvadoran roads rank third in Latin America. Guatemalan and Nicaraguan roads exceed those of countries like Uruguay and Paraguay, with much more competitive economies.
